King Quail (live from a basement)

On a cold evening last week myself, Wyldest frontwoman Zoe Mead & saxophonist Rittipo got together in a London basement to dial up the reverbs and perform this special, semi-stripped live version of my latest single King Quail. Watch the full performance on IGTV or via YouTube now!

King Quail is taken from my upcoming album on Bella Union, which you can preorder at http://smarturl.it/hc_em. Hope you’re all wrapped up warm, as I type this I can’t feel my toes x

'KING QUAIL' OUT NOW!

NEW SINGLE!! ‘King Quail’ is out today via Bella Union on all major digital streaming services! This song is about learning to be comfortable the way you are, breaking away from any fear of rejection or the feeling that we have to exaggerate ourselves into some insincere showpiece to impress others.

This one was a collaboration with Zoe from Wyldest. I had the bones of the song with an OP-1 loop and a motorik 808 beat, and the two of us spent an evening shaping it into a psychedelic krautrocky pop-song, with Zoe adding spacey guitar and me crashing out on drums. The song was co-produced by myself, Zoe and JMAC, with Iggy engineering the final drum sessions. The visual was self-directed and filmed by Elliot Tatler, very loosely representing the 3 stages of the ‘modelled appearance’ we use to try and impress others.

NEW SONG, NEW ALBUM

Hey lovers. I’m so excited to share with you that my brand new album Every Mover will be out worldwide on January 8th via Bella Union/PIAS! Today we release a brand new single from the album, ‘Anthropic (Cold Times)’, available on streaming platforms.

It’s a summary of the album’s message; a pledge to try and break away from the chains of self-doubt, insecurity and social-comparison, instead learning to love and appreciate the beauty around us and, most importantly, in ourselves. You can listen to A(CT) NOW and pre-order the album on red vinyl, CD or digitally via http://smarturl.it/hc_em.

Huge love goes to JMAC for co-producing the track with me, to Rittipo for his killer saxophone work and to Jack Dunn and my brother Harley Riman for appearing in the music video. Album cover photo by Tom Harrison with Design from Luke Jarvis.

I can’t wait for you to hear the album. Make sure you follow me on social media to stay up to date: @hilangchild x
