Post-Tour Thanks

Thank you infinitely to everyone who’s come to see us play these past few weeks, it’s been a total dream to be back on the road in this new set up. Huge, huge love to Sofia Grant for being such an amazing bandmate and touring partner for the past couple of months, been a total privilege sharing the stage with you ❤️ massive love also to Wyldest and Rittipo for joining me for the London show at such short notice with no rehearsals, you guys are the G.O.A.T.s. Thank you everyone who made it out to the London show, to the new fans I met on the road with Lanterns On The Lake and at the festivals, to everyone who bought merch (we sold out of CDs and LPs!) and to the lovely Lanterns themselves for having us join them on their tour dates.

Seimbang/Balance - out today!

Seimbang/Balance is OUT TODAY!!

This is one of the most unique creative projects I’ve ever worked on and am so proud of what we’ve made. 5 tracks created from our own field recordings captured in the tropical rainforests of West Borneo, the rare and endangered European temperate rainforests in Wales, the communities and cultures who populate them and harsh noise of industry and urban expansion which threaten them.

We’d like to thank the British Council and Connections Through Culture for making this possible and facilitating a new creative friendship between myself, Prabumi and Ninda Felina. Thank you to Tito and Ninda for being such amazing musicians to work with, and to all our teams involved behind the scenes: Tessa Dwadiandra, Rama Rowe, Nino Bukhir, Tobias Brent, Bagus Ikalisasi, Charlotte Miles, Renggo Adjie, Willem Olenski, Will Bloomfield and everyone else who helped us out.

Seimbang/Balance was created from a pool of field recordings we made, sonically exploring the balance between humans and nature. We each spent time recording the natural soundscapes in threatened wild places in the UK and Indonesia, snapshots of local culture and artistic traditions, and the sounds of ever encroaching modern industry, then used our recordings to write the 5 pieces of music.

‘Harmony’ features recordings of young people in Pontianak, West Borneo and in Hove, England, as well as gamelan from West Borneo, the Welsh folk-fiddle tune ‘Pure Water’ (played by Harry Abel) and the Welsh language poem ‘Llwyn Onn’ (performed by Louise Riman a.k.a. my mum).

This was one of the most unique and enriching projects I’ve ever worked on and we’re so excited to finally begin sharing it with you. Thank you to British Council for funding it, to Harbour Masters Records for releasing and to Rob Flynn for mastering. More soon! x
